snagu

snagu is a camera-phone based scavenger hunt created by four students at the Interactive Telecommunications Program in the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. snagu won the Cisco Systems/mtvU Digital Incubator Grant to give groups of students the ability to make their idea a reality. While the game has launched, it is constantly being updated to ensure the maximum amount of fun.

We started asking “How can I play a game with my camera phone?” We wondered how we could get our “busy” friends to play a game with us, just like they did in elementary school. We looked to scavenger hunts and wondered, “Why do they have to be timed? Why is there always only one right answer? Who decides who won? How do you get the clues?” The intrepid designer searched far and wide for the answers, and decided to build a new scavenger hunt from the ground up.
